Ikamuzu (previously Lithium Flower) was created in 2005 to help give people more information about Asian movies. When we started our obsession we would search for Asian review sites to give us some names and info about what movies to watch, but sadly, they were hard to find. Luckily now, because the growing popularity of Asian movies, there are a lot more U.S. distributors so it's easier for people to watch them. After a few years, we decided to start up an Asian review site to help people like us out. Ikamuzu was originally named Lithium Flower and was apart of SealedCurse.net (Hawlee's website). Since the only thing Hawlee updated anymore at Sealedcurse.net was Lithium Flower she decided to get rid of it and start fresh with a new name. Ikamuzu is not a real japanese word, but actually Uzumaki spelled backwards. Uzumaki was a big influence that started our obsession, and is still one of our all time favorites. We still point out any Uzumaki we see in everyday life.

As you can tell, I'm a big fan of Asian cinema. Since Junior-High I had a huge obsession with Anime. The really embarrassing type of obsession. The first Japanese horror movie I saw was, of course, Ringu. I had liked the remake so much, when I found out it was a Japanese movie, I knew I had to see the original. When I met Barb through work, she would show me articles she found in her Rue Morgue magazine about some Asian horror movies. Two in particular stood out, Ju-on: The Grudge, and Uzumaki. That began the start of the growing obsession I had. I am currently studying Japanese with my boyfriend Khad.

I really don't have a certain genre of movies I stick to, I like them all. Though, I'd have to say that Horror is my favorite genre ;). I love horror movies in general, not just foreign horror movies. I also like 70's pinku films... a lot.

Hawlee's current favorite Asian movie: Breath
Hawlee's all-time favorite Asian movie: 3-Iron

Here are a few cinema podcasts we (especially Barb) visit regularly. They don't specialize in Asian films, but will review one on occasion.
